How this calculator works

Vehicle costs = miles × cost per mile. Total operating costs = vehicle costs + other expenses. Profit before taxes = gross earnings − total operating costs. Effective hourly earnings = profit ÷ total hours. Vehicle costs are rounded to cents before subtraction; hourly earnings are rounded to cents. Exact half-cent ties round away from zero, including losses. At zero hours, hourly earnings are not calculated.

What to include — and what to leave out

Your per-mile estimate may include fuel, maintenance, depreciation and an allocated share of insurance or other vehicle costs. Include each expense once. Do not add fuel or insurance again under other expenses if already included in your rate. Other expenses can include platform fees, parking or tolls only if they are not already deducted from the earnings you entered or included in your rate. Costs not entered are excluded. This is an operating-cost estimate, not a tax deduction calculation. It does not use an IRS mileage rate or calculate taxes. Actual costs vary. It is not financial or tax advice.

Worked example — illustrative only

$200 earnings, 8 hours, 100 miles, $0.30 per mile and $10 in other costs: vehicle costs = $30; total costs = $40; profit before taxes = $160; effective hourly earnings = $20. These are example inputs, not expected earnings or typical costs.

Common questions

Is this what I will take home?

No. Taxes and any costs you leave out are excluded. The result depends on your entries and vehicle-cost assumption.

What if I worked zero hours?

You can still see estimated profit, but an hourly amount is not meaningful until hours are above zero.

Can I use my tax mileage rate?

A tax deduction rate is not necessarily your vehicle’s operating cost. Choose your own cost estimate; this tool does not calculate deductions.

Should I enter platform deposits or gross pay?

Use a consistent basis. If fees are already subtracted from the earnings you enter, do not subtract them again as other expenses.

Are my entries saved or uploaded?

No. This calculator runs in your browser and does not save entries or send them to Money Finder. Following the Checkup link does not transfer them. Normal hosting connection information still applies.
